OUR HISTORY
Since 2012
Ultimate United was founded in May 2012 by Vijay Partap Sharma and his wife Kit Ling Kung.
In May 2012, a friend invited Kit Ling and Vijay to visit the Saigon Street playground in Yau -Ma-Tei. There they met a group of children of different nationalities and with very different socio-economic backgrounds, including single-parents families, asylum seekers and refugees. They quickly learned of the potential risks and challenges that the children faced as a result of negative influences in their neighborhood, such as drug abuse, alcoholism, teenage/unwanted pregnancy and prostitution.
Vijay and Kit Ling felt compelled to take action, with God as their guide. The following Friday evening, they went back to the park, and have since been going there weekly from 7:00pm to 9:00pm to meet, sing and play with their young friends, and show them how much they matter.
Our “Friday Nights Kid’s Club” has now grown to include some 200 members, and Ultimate United has also expanded its presence within the Yau-Tsim-Mong community with both regular and special activities that aim to support the personal and academic development of children, and the needs of their families. Ultimate United is run by Vijay and Kitling with the support of a small team and volunteers. We are a diverse team with different nationalities and a range of professions who are bound together by a deep sense of responsibility for our community.
